Background
REACH is a nonprofit affordable housing development and property management company, begun in 1982 in response to neighbors’ concerns about deteriorating housing conditions in Southeast Portland. Today, REACH owns and manages a portfolio of 1,607 units of affordable housing across the metropolitan region. REACH has a staff of 99, augmented by approximately 500 volunteers per year, and an annual consolidated budget of $14 million. Among many awards, REACH has received the Bank of America Neighborhood Excellence Initiative Award, the Oregon Housing and Community Services “Award for Excellence” for our Resident Services Programs, and has been recognized as one of OregonBusiness magazine’s 100 Best Nonprofits to Work For in Oregon four years in a row.

    1/16/2013 Over the last 30 years, REACH has developed 1,607 units of affordable rental housing, and 28 units of housing for first time homebuyers. REACH has over 300 units in development, including two 55 unit TOD projects. In December 2012, we opened a new construction 209 unit building, with 42 units designated for veterans. Gray's Landing also includes 17,000 sq ft of commercial space, and REACH now occupies 12,000 sq ft for our headquarters. REACH recently received a Healthy Homes grant to expand its home repair program to include repairs for low-income families experiencing health problems related to substandard housing.
