Background
Mid Central Community Action was incorporated in 1965 and achieved NeighborWorks(r) America Chartered Member status in 2004. Primary housing related services offered by the organization are down-payment and closing cost assistance, budget and credit counseling, single family construction and rehabilitation. Mid Central Community Action also operates a small business loan program to spur economic development and job creation. With a total staff of 60 people, the agency delivers a broad range of other services, including case management for clients who are homeless, provided in the context of a multi-family project opened in 2002, as well as in nine transitional homes. Advocacy and outreach to seniors in one of counties in the agency's service area, and comprehensive countering domestic violence services including a shelter in the other county. More than 5000 families are served annually in energy assistance programs and home weatherization. ".
