Background
Neighborhood Housing Partnership of Greater Springfield, Inc.(NHP) is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization created in response to deteriorating housing and neighborhood conditions in the city of Springfield, Ohio. NHP is the product of a 2001 merger of two nonprofits in order to create an organization sufficiently capitalized to implement community-development related activities. NHP is overseen by a diverse Board of Trustees comprised of neighborhood residents, business and government, minority and low-income representatives. Primary activities include: 1) low interest-rate loans for home repairs; 2) construction management; 3) homebuyer education/financial literacy education; 4) downpayment assistance; 5) first mortgage lending and referrals; and 6) credit counseling/delinquency intervention.
