Background
DHIC Inc. was formed in 1974 as the Downtown Housing Improvement Corporation to revitalize neighborhoods adjoining Downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. In the 1970s, DHIC managed the rehabilitation of over 600 homes in these neighborhoods. Since then, DHIC’s scope has expanded to serve Raleigh, Wake County and adjoining counties in the Research Triangle area. DHIC has developed more than 1,500 apartments and nearly 400 homes for sale to first-time and modest-income homebuyers. Through its Homeownership Center, DHIC provides homeownership counseling, education and access to downpayment assistance programs to first time homebuyers.

Mission
DHIC strengthens neighborhoods with expanded homeownership opportunities, provides quality rental housing for families and seniors with limited incomes, and enhances the economic well-being of residents of DHIC communities and low-wealth neighborhoods throughout the Research Triangle area.
