Background
Universal Housing Development Corporation (UHDC) was founded as a nonprofit corporation in 1971 to assist low-income families with safe and sanitary housing in a service area encompassing eight rural counties in northwest Arkansas. UHDC has maintained success in rural development through homeownership assistance, construction of self-help housing, weatherization programs, and Section 8 administration.

Mission
UHDC mission is to provide housing and housing assistance to low and very low-income families in central and western Arkansas. UHDC has consistently met its mission with the substantial production through programs involving homeownership counseling, construction of self-help housing, owner-occupied rehabilitation, multi-family housing, and weatherization.
