Background
St. Mary Development Corporation (SMDC) was established in June of 1989 as a not-for-profit organization that provides high-quality, affordable housing to low-income seniors and working families in the Dayton, Ohio, area. SMDC is the largest not-for-profit provider of quality housing in southwest Ohio. SMDC owns and manages five independent living residences for low-income seniors and has developed more than 100 single-family homes for low-income families. SMDC also manages the HomeOwnership Center of Greater Dayton, and has rehabilitated more than 100 existing single-family residences in East Dayton. Since 1993, SMDC has placed more than 2200 units of housing into service with a total investment value of more than $200 million.
