Background
Rural Communities Housing Development Corporation (RCHDC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) housing development corporation established in 1975 to address the housing needs of the low-income population of Lake and Mendocino counties. The organization's efforts focused initially upon the development of affordable rental housing for low-income families and seniors. In 1983, RCHDC expanded into operating the self-help-housing program serving Lake, Mendocino, and Humboldt counties. In addition, the organization owns and manages multi-family housing projects; those developed and owned by RCHDC, as well as providing property management services of housing projects owned by other non-profit groups in Northern California and Northern Nevada.
