Background
The idea of Knox Housing Partnership Inc. (KHP) came from Knoxville's Partnership for Neighborhood Improvement, an organization comprised of bank leaders and residents who came together as the result of a community redlining protest in the late 1980s. KHP was founded in 1990 to form a partnership of local governments, businesses and private citizens to provide affordable housing opportunities to residents of Knox County.

Mission
The mission of Knox Housing Partnership is to build a stronger community by providing desirable and affordable housing opportunities to all residents of Knoxville and Knox County. We fulfill our mission by: Being a leader in neighborhood revitalization; Providing homeownership education and counseling; Providing development services for the rehabilitation and construction of housing units; Providing financial products to assist low and moderate income households in obtaining affordable housing; Serving as a clearinghouse for community housing interests; and Working in partnership with others for the betterment of our community.
