Background
BND was incorporated in 1985 by diverse members of the community and the Board and Executive Director of Elizabethport Presbyterian Center. BND was formed to provide affordable housing for low to moderate income families and individuals in the Elizabethport area. Through our strategic planning process BND expanded its target area to include all of Elizabeth and its surrounding communities. The City of Elizabeth and surrounding communities are experiencing a renaissance. BND and its supporters have led the charge in working to revitalize, energize and create a climate of reinvestment for which all stakeholders can take ownership. BND is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and supported by five full-time staff. BND's assistance extends to individuals, families, renters, homeowners, private developers local business leaders, entrepreneurs, government and quasi-government entities in Elizabethport and surrounding communities "leading the way to the future."

    Date Additional Accomplishment
1/26/2001 BND was designated redeveloper of four lots formerly owned by the City of Elizabeth. BND developed an eight unit condominium apartment building.
12/15/2005 BND sold a two family newly constructed home to a first time homebuyer moderate income family for approximately $100,000 below the market. This sale gave a hard working family immediate equity and therby created a wealth building opportunity for a minority homeowner who otherwise would not be able to purchase in the current market. This buyer also now becomes rooted in the community as the property has a five year deed restriction.
