Background
The Salisbury NHS was incorporated in 1994 to stimulate and coordinate efforts to revitalize city neighborhoods among residents, city government and the local financial community. SNHS's creation was the culmination of work by the Mayor's Revitalization Task Force, the Greater Salisbury Committee, and the Wicomico Community Bankers Group. It was modeled after, and its development was assisted by existing NHS organizations in the Maryland cities of Baltimore and Cumberland.

Mission
To renew pride, restore confidence, promote reinvestment and revitalize neighborhoods within the city of Salisbury and its environs through the combined efforts of residents, financial institutions, corporate enterprise and the business community, foundations, and local governments.

  • Invested $113,547 in the community through Salisbury Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc.'s revolving loan fund, which leveraged $6,099,085 from conventional lenders and other sources.

    9/22/2008 Demolished two vacant buildings to make way for a new five lot subdivision. We will build 5 new single family homes in partnership with the students at Parkside High School.
    6/5/2009 Finished the first of five houses which was moved to it's permanent location at 709 Delaware Avenue
