Background
Founded in 1968 by a group of individuals who believed in the principle of community initiative and that it was in their self-interest to actively work to improve their communities and neighborhoods. Troy Rehabilitation and Improvement Program's (TRIP) board and staff today reaffirm that belief and strive to bring public and private resources to bear in a manner that does not create or support unnecessary dependencies.

    1/17/2001 Developed an environmental training program which provides unemployed and under-employed community residents intensive training and certifications in the field of environmental hazard remediation.
    1/17/2001 Managed 294 residential rental units and provided home repair service to 234 senior households.
    1/17/2001 Offered landlord training programs and developed and offered a tenant training program.
    8/3/2006 In 2005, the TRIP NeighborWorks Home Ownership Center counseled 716 individuals (resulting in an average 73 point increase in credit scores to 729); had 403 attendees at orientation sessions; graduated 104 people from homebuyers clubs; assisted 43 new home buyers; prevented 21 foreclosures; provided landlord training to 132 people. TRIP also maintains an inventory of 206 rental units located in sixty-six scattered site buildings. Kitchen and bathroom upgrades being made to many of them. New community garden created through resident leadership activities.
