Background
FNHS was founded in 1993 by leaders of the South Fairbanks community in response to an identified need for residents to become vested in their neighborhood and to provide new resources and investment opportunities to the neighborhood. Since its inception, FNHS has established revitialization programs in two distressed neighborhoods, forming public and private partnerships that continue to leverage resources for neighborhood improvement programs and homeownership promotion. In 2003 the Fairbanks NeighborWorks HomeOwnership Center was opened. The Center provides area-wide homebuyer education, counseling and lending services.

Mission
Fairbanks Neighborhood Housing Services is a grassroots organization of neighborhood residents, government officials and business leaders working together to revitalize neighborhoods and preserve and develop affordable housing for low and moderate income families and for all residents of designated neighborhoods.
