Background
Incorporated in 1971 to address the intolerable living conditions and lack of adequate housing in the rural areas of Colorado. The organization was created to research and develop housing opportunities for low-income rural families through the construction of safe, sanitary, and affordable housing.

Colorado Rural Housing Development Corporation and its affiliate corporations create strong and healthy communities through innovative approaches in providing sustainable and affordable housing, life-skills, and economic development opportunities to benefit low-to-moderate income households throughout Colorado through property development, financing, education, partnership, and technical assistance.

  • Invested $340,105 in the community through Colorado Rural Housing Development Corporation's revolving loan fund, which leveraged $8,281,403 from conventional lenders and other sources.

    1/17/2001 Own 92 rental housing units with plans to double assets by CY2005.
    1/17/2001 CRHDC expanded its USDA Rural Development Leveraging program to service 11 of the 14 USDA Rural Development offices in the state.
    1/17/2001 HUD approved CRHDC to build two Senior Housing Projects (HUD202) in New Castle and Del Norte, Colorado and approved it's state-wide counseling grant application.
    1/17/2001 CRHDC built 20 homes in CY2002 using the Self-Help method of construction and expanded geographically to Trinidad.
    1/17/2001 CRHDC added the SEARS Home Maintenance Workshops as well as Financial Fitness to it's roster of classes offered.
    1/17/2001 In CY2003 CRHDC won the prestigious Eagle Award presented at the Colorado Housing NOW conference, honoring CRHDC's Self-Help accomplishments.
    12/1/2004 Awarded a "Salute" by Neighborhood Housing Services of America for CRHDC's Direct Line of Credit Loans and reported on in the NHSA Tribute Booklet.
