Background
Kalamazoo NHS Inc. was incorporated in 1981 to provide services in Kalmazoo county. However the majority of our work has taken place in the six CDBG-eligible neighborhoods within the city. In addition, we serve Portage CDBG neighborhoods as well. A staff of 14 administers programs and services. Over the last 25 years the staff has helped more than 900 families achieve home ownership.

The mission of Kalamazoo Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc. is to revitalize neighborhoods and promote homeownership.

    1/24/2006 KNHS has received $45,000 from CDFI, for a Capitalization Plan and a Market Analysis
    1/24/2006 KNHS developed and implemented a Financial Literacy Program to compliment the Home Buyer Education classes held at the Homeownership Center.
    1/24/2006 KNHS developed a plan and was awarded the Individual Development Account program with 25 participants
    1/24/2006 Approximately $4.2 million was invested in low-to-moderate housing in 6 Kalamazoo neighborhoods by its lending and funding partners.
    1/24/2006 390 individuals attended the Homeownership Orientation or Education program.
    1/24/2006 56 low-to-moderate families became homeowners through the services of KNHS.
