Background
Neighborhood Housing Services/Oklahoma City, Inc. (NHS) is a non-profit corporation that began actively pursuing its mission of neighborhood revitalization and home ownership in 1990. By encouraging reinvestment, increasing confidence, and promoting self-reliance, NHS helps to strengthen the social and economic fabric of deteriorating communities. NHS does this by building partnerships between residents, local businesses and financial institutions, and local government. These partnerships enable NHS to provide home ownership and home improvement opportunities that lead to neighborhood growth and stability. NHS is led by a 15 member Board of Directors with membership comprised of 55% residents and 45% business/lending institution/city government. NHS has been designated as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) for purposes of federal funding and is a charter member of the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporations national NeighborWorks® network. NHS has also been certified as a non-profit Community Development Financial Institution through the Department of Treasury. NHS is also an Oklahoma City certified CDC.

Mission
NHS/OKC, with the assistance of resident, business, and government partners, is dedicated to neighborhood revitalization and home ownership.
