Background
CNHS offers a full package of homeownership services to the neighborhoods of St. Paul Established in 1981, CNHS promotes community development through education and affordable housing programs in the neighborhoods of St. Paul. Its programs include first mortgages, purchase with rehab loans, refinance with rehab loans, home-improvement loans, homebuyer education, counseling services and technical construction and financial assistance. Recently, CNHS has expanded its education and first mortgage programs to be available throughout the 7 county metro area. Since 1981, CNHS has assisted more than 8,650 families through direct loans, consultation and technical assistance. In 2002 alone, CNHS helped 126 clients purchase homes, managed or facilitated 66 home rehabilitations, and educated or counseled 533 clients. A recent study by the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation (NR) stated that the local investments generated by CNHS from 1998 through 2002 resulted in $72.5 million in economic benefits to homebuyers, lenders, real estate and home-supply businesses, local governments, and more.
