Background
Founded in 1992, MHAH owns and operates affordable rental housing complexes on the islands of Kauai and Oahu. Mutual Housing owns 555 units within three projects: Lihue Court Townhomes on the island of Kauai; Kekaulike Courtyards in Honolulu's Chinatown; and Palolo Homes, formerly the State's largest public housing project. We emphasize active participation and collaboration with our residents and the development of such supportive social services for the community as computer learning centers and affordable childcare.

Mission
“The mission of MHAH is to develop, own and manage multi-family rental communities serving families earning 20 to 80 percent of median income. MHAH will assist its target families to become more self sufficient through the provision of affordable rental housing, support for economic development activities and supportive services aimed at assisting residents to build assets, earn income, and improve the quality of family life and the economic vitality of the surrounding community.”
