Background
Mutual Housing Association of Greater Hartford, Inc. (MHAGH) was incorporated in 1988 with the belief that mutual housing can promote community stability through permanence of residence and the partnership of persons representing diverse demographics, skills and talents. Residents, through their participation in governing the Association and with the assistance of a professional staff, control the management of their housing. They are encouraged to develop a strong sense of commitment and mutual support. Mutual Housing is not merely a place to live, but a stable community of people from different racial and ethnic backgrounds, ages and economic levels, working in partnership, bringing together a wide variety of skills and talents which are used for the benefit of all.

Mission
The MHA of Greater Hartford, Inc. in the interest of improving the quality of community life and revitalizing neighborhoods, is committed to being an on-going producer, owner, and manager of affordable, well-built, permanent housing for Greater Hartford residents of varied incomes. The strength and vitality of the association is derived from its partnership structure which joins in membership persons from local and state government, private enterprise, community groups, and the housing residents themselves.
